🠈  Piute County  🠊

Piute County is small county of 766 square miles located in Central Utah. The 2010 census reported a population of 1,556 with a 2015 estimate of 1,517.

The county is named after the Paiute Indians who inhabit the Great Basin, although only about a percent of the inhabitants in the county claim Native American Heritage.

NOTE "Paiute" is the French phonetic Spelling of the tribe's name and "Piute" is the English phonetic spelling.

Towns in the county tend to cluster around US89 and SR62 on the valley floors between the Fishlake Mountains. The county seat is Junction, Utah and the largest town in Circleville.
